The History Group has specific expertise in the area of First Nations law. We have a specialized understanding of the documentary evidence required to support various types of First Nations claims. Our team is experienced in identifying, organizing and analysing files held by federal, provincial, local and private archives. We have worked on complex cases involving the production of thousands of documents and our knowledge of the design and maintenance of legal databases is highly refined.
Our team is comprised of individuals with extensive academic and professional training in the area of First Nations claims research. Our involvement in First Nations claims has afforded us the opportunity to document the legacy of key historical issues such as land title and residential schools. The History Group also has a particular proficiency in the area of Estate law. Our team has undertaken genealogical research to identify and locate heirs to estates and we appreciate the investigative aspect of this practice area. We are familiar with national and international genealogical sources and our network of partners has proven to be highly valuable to our clients.
Our researchers have experience accessing a wide range of sources to trace genealogy and lineage. We are familiar with birth, marriage and death records, census records, immigration records, military records and land records. We have worked in private, local, provincial, and federal archives to obtain documentary evidence. We can locate individuals with very limited information.
